Alan Mackay.
Painter and sculptor.
Date Of Birth: 3rd April 1943.

Education:
Attended Camberwell Art School 1960-1964 Where I specialised in painting although the first part of the course had a stone carving module.

Statement:
My paintings and sculptures are made to realise a sense of monumentality. I work with careful deliberation to remove inessentials, tightening my grip on the idea, seeking in nature and the human form,shapes that are both expressive and contain an element of visual drama.

My work is to be found in St Catherines College, Oxford,in Germany, and France as well as in private collections across the south of England from East Anglia to Cornwall.

1973 St Catherines College, Oxford. Solo exhibition of paintings drawings and sculpture.

1976 South London Gallery. Together Again, an exhibition by former Camberwell students.

1982 Blackheath Gallery, mixed exhibition.

1986 The Mall Galleries, London. Laings Landscape/ Seascape Exhibition.

1987 The Garden Gallery New Cross London. Mixed exhibition

1991 Roy Miles Gallery Mayfair, London. British Month .

1994 First Light Gallery, Brighton, exhibited with the photographer Eric Richmond.

1995 Coventry Gallery, London, New Figurative Works. Mixed exhibition .

1998-2008 Plumbline Gallery, St Ives, Cornwall.

1999 Fisherton Mill, Salisbury. Naked, a mixed exhibition paintings ,sculptures and photographs of the nude.

2000 and 2002 Beatrice Royal Gallery, Eastleigh, Hampshire. "Art in the Garden".

2000 and 2001 The Garden Gallery, Broughton, Hampshire. "Summer Exhibition" Sculptures in a garden setting.

2000-2002 Stone Lane Gardens Arboretum near Chagford in Devon. The Mythic Garden Summer Exhibition.

2002 Badcocks Gallery ,Newlyn, Cornwall.

2009-2011 Newlyn Festival Exhibition, Newlyn Gallery Cornwall.

Prizes:
The French Mint in Paris: "Search for Sculptors of the Nude Figure" 2nd Prize in this competition launched in London. The three prize winners had their work cast in a bronze edition and were then put on sale in Paris.
